Ubuntu Case Badge Project by doctormo Ubuntu Case Badge Project by doctormo
This is the collection of photos from the case badge project which includes the design stage. a rather sucessful project as we had over 18,000 pre ordered which took the cost per unit down from $6.40 each when you order 100 to $0.19 when you order 18,000 of the things.

See this is another great thing about having a great community; you can get together and trust each other and make great things happen.

A freakin' CASE BADGE?!?!? How did I miss this the last time I was here??? I took the bloody Vista sticker off of my Acer notebook because Windows doesn't live here any more. An Ubuntu case badge would absolutely be the business!!! I would be the talk of the town, the envy of my peers.....

You get my drift, right? That is truly beyond cool. Now I just need to figure out how to get one! ZaReason, here I come....

The original project was way back in 2007, going on 3 years ago now.

We want to see pictures!

I already get teased about how resistance was obviously futile whenever I wear my bluetooth earpiece. Damnable, likeable, useful, easy to become dependent upon technological advances!!!

I haven't managed to convince anyone in my family to use Firefox, let alone Linux...but that hasn't kept me from trying! :D

Remember! It's not Linux, it's Ubuntu. Best not to confuse things, although telling them that it's a new, awesome thing like Apple MacOSX but for PCs with all the software they need and no need for anti-virus. Oh and it looks awesome and works on older machines.

How much does it cost? Well it's not free, in fact it's quite expensive. Fortunately some other guys bought it and all we have to do is either use it or later if we want we can put some money together and pay for some extra stuff to be developed in our name. How cool is that, our names in the software!

I can't use the word "ubuntu" without it leading to the base code explanation with these people. Believe me, it all comes back around to the whole "It's Ubuntu, like Linux, but for humans" argument eventually.

I am all for the donation angle, too. That never hurts, right? Keep open source available and keep the ball rolling!

Actually we don't use the "L" word any more, it's not honest, true or relevant. Best to just say "Ubuntu, it's like Mac for your PC except you actually get to own it without mortgaging your house and selling your first born."

best not to worry people who technical details about Kernels and such. It only raises their ire.

I've had my desktop (which I custom built; with Ubuntu 9.04) for about a year or more now, and yet I still don't have the Ubuntu sticker yet. xP Just haven't quite requested any at all. I could probably even use a surplus for such at a installfest that I might assist with (for the 9.10 release), but not entirely sure.

Hey!
That's kind of cool!! I removed the vista sticker from my computer the day I removed vista as well (I don't want my laptop to be an advertising space for microsoft). Now that I have Ubuntu it would be great if I can get one of those!
