I have the biggest immigrant shield by doctormo I have the biggest immigrant shield by doctormo
But I'm not immune to attacks against fellow immigrants to the United States. I stand with my brothers and sisters from other countries and urge Citizens to continue fighting for what is just and what is kind.

Made in Inkscape 0.92 on Ubuntu 16.04.

I like your art, art can criticize politics, the world should not have borders or walls, art can generate awareness of what is happening in the world, I am Mexican and never thought about traveling to the USA, but I worry about everything The hate that Donald Trump can generate, I send you a hug and continue to draw

i'd think the biggest part of your shield would be that you're here legally so you're not actually even a target.

from what i've seen trump isn't actually against legal immigration so much as illegal immigration.

it sucks for the illegal immigrants who have made friends, family, and lives here (as well as for their friends and families).
but i mean isn't it basically just the standard policy most countries have vs illegal immigration? if i went to england illegally and they found me out wouldn't they just ship me back here maybe after a bit of jail time?
(i actually have no idea about england but that's certainly what mexico would do.)

he's a vocal idiot about it so now it's something the country shouldn't do?

You are completely wrong. Ever person detained this weekend was here legally. You see that green card in the hat? They all had those. They have had background checks, interviews, been fingerprinted ALREADY. They were singled out because they are foreign and not Christian (which is actually unconstitutional, but he's never read the constitution)

Not something other countries do, because this order targets everyone. Visa holders, green card holders, dual nationals. It targets Legal entrants.

There is also a hatred and wilful ignorance that surrounds the whole thing. This isn't rational policy making or a reasonable roll out of a planned immigration system. It's rushed popularism.

The threat of all this is very real and the only thing stopping this becoming very very bad is people standing up, protesting and litigating. I don't often give the slippery slope argument, but in all honesty this administration will be a constant and on going fight.

i hear that in japan you have to carry your legal papers with you because the police there will just ask you to show them.
even japanese born citizens who just don't look like the standard idea of a japanese citizen go through that a lot from what i've heard.
so there are cases of countries doing some fairly heavy handed stuff for immigration.

that said, i don't really keep up with the news so it's been a while since i read or heard anything about it.
after reading your and teruterukama's replies i looked it up and turning people away who have green cards and should legally be allowed in is nothing at all like what i heard was going to be done before.
this is just crazy. i mean the japan thing was more like what i thought was going to end up happening and i even thought that sort of thing was fairly harsh.
this was also the first i heard about christians being favored though how to prove anyone is what they say they are is beyond me. i mean if i were a terrorist and i wanted in i'd probably learn to fake it. a policy like that just seems to be a glaring weak point of whatever it is he's trying to do in the first place. at any rate it seems they're not just letting them through either as they've apparently sent some back to qatar.

Thanks for the considered reply DJS. It's a bit of a worry to be honest, we'll just have to see how this plays out in the coming months.
