Hello again! Thank you very much for translating this! How I wish I knew of this back when i was still in my old OS-tan forum -- I know at least some people would have gone wild reading this cute homage to *Buntu (and all the Windows/Linux in-jokes).

May not be too late -- certainly deserves mention in our OS-tan DA club. ^^

I'm a bit short on time at the moment so I'm afraid I can't thoroughly review everything for comments about the spelling accuracy or visual style.

I did catch from your blog that you have to flip the imagery -- and while I do understand the motive, it may not have been entirely necessary as nearly all the major licensed manga publishers in the US & Canada, such as TokyoPop, VizMedia, Brocolli Books, and Shojo Beat, now publish all their works in the original right-to-left format. Presumably as a "win-win" situation, since the publishers didn't have to spend so much time and resources flipping everything, and the readers got their much-demanded "authenticity".

Honestly, though, it's a minor detail compared to the fact that this is less a translation project and more a public service on your behalf. ^__^

For the work that you and the others put into translating this, I'd like to donate $50USD to the F/OSS Project or Linux/BSD distribution of your choice as a small token of my appreciation. Feel free to choose upwards to five such projects. ^^

Hey there, Yes I've heard people bemoan the fact that I've flipped the images. But to be honest, I don't give a fig about so called "authenticity", I care about native English readers being able to read it. Manger readers, well they're a special breed.

Not that I don't like reading Manga myself, even RtL; But I'm not that interested in it for my own production. The logic is missing since I know the subject well.

As for a project? I'm not sure, I do so much of my volunteer work right now and I'm trying to get members of the community to accept the idea of commissioning works instead of praying to developers and then donating after the face as an act of charity.

So if you want to invest $50 into something, commission an artwork from ~mimoly or ~meglyman that depicts something really cool for the FOSS world. Or you could commission a bug fix (pick one from launchpad) or a deb package request from jpds, or perhaps a really small feature in a tool you want. I know I'd like better translation in svg files available.

Fufu... not surprisingly, you've opted for the more practical option. Can't expect less from Doc Mo. ^^

I can handle FOSS artwork myself (I'm still due to repackage my Vanguard cursor theme to all distributions, not just PCLinuxOS), so yes due to that and personal preference I think sponsoring a specific bug fix or feature request would be the best win-win for all. [my dream feature, btw, is animation in Inkscape due in v0.48]

When they ask, I'll tell them "Doc Mo Sent Me". ^.^

Animation in inkscape eh? well I tell you what, put that $50 into your own dream, get together with other people who are interested in that feature and raise the required $5,000 for it. I'll put in a $100 investment if you will and we can set up an aggregation funding project to get something real and useful into inkscape.

I think next time I'll create two versions, one RtL and the other LtR and then I'll moan at the RtL reader on the front page

Right now I'm writing where I can't download attachments, so I'm not able to review either your translation source or Seotch-san's original PSD. However, I would love to volunteer in creating an RtL edition -- not for the bemoaners mind you (don't give a fig about them either), but just for myself.

I love RtL manga, and have the will and the skills to make it happen. It's only a matter of licensing, and anything else I might not be considering at this time. ^^'

Ah well, you don't have to program it, if your looking for something smaller for your investment, you know where to go :-D

Hi! Sorry I'm late. Had to handle two prerequisites.... ^___^

1) Had to get back home first to my lovable Kubuntu PC... and a real internet connection. ^.^

2) Had to review all the source files to make sure I'm not talking up the wrong orifice. -v-;

After careful evaluation of Seotch-san's original PSD sauce and your SVG file translations, I'm absolutely convinced this is going to be not only possible, but very easy thanks to your work.

While there may be some instances where I feel it prudent to make some minor modification or a rollback to the original version style (such as in Page 1, Panel 1, where the background simply spells out "U B U N T U" and thus will be perfectly legible when reflipped), I think this is simply a matter of juggling the background art and your translated text.

However, where I will be putting some extra work will be in the Reading Order Instruction that I'd like to include between the Title Page and Page 1.

This instructional page is customary really, but it's also a good way to tell accidental downloaders of the RtL version that they're reading the wrong version (or it might entice them to try something different). It's also a nice opportunity to offer a little fanart to Seotch-san, as these pages generally contain a cute character illustration explaining the instructions. But I will touch base with Seotch-san about this though -- in the event I won't be able to illustrate one of the story characters, I can always default to a generic [albeit Linux-inspired] Anime character.

I would, however, probably advise against announcing this until I've at least offered a converted page to you first. Call it a "deposit" -- I may be psyched, but also have an embarrassing track record of broken promises. ^^'

After the "deposit", I can probably also supply some kind of timeframe for you. ^__~
