Gimp 2.8 Photoshop Tweaks by doctormo Gimp 2.8 Photoshop Tweaks by doctormo
To help a fellow deviant, I've put together a download that anyone with Gimp 2.8 on Linux can use to make their copy of gimp look more like Adobe Photoshop and make people more comfortable.

I've taken various bits of guides online and various tweaks. All you have to do is download the file, unzip it. Then in the file manager go to your home folder, show hidden files, delete or move your old .gimp-2.8 configuration folder out of the way, and replace with the new one. Then load gimp. Then me know if it works for you or if it fails.

Update: Icon were blurry in the original icon theme. I've patched them all up to be much clearer.
Update2: The drop here text is now gone and the default background when loading is the same dark grey.

Thanks, so far so good on U 14.04

If I could remove that ugly dog logo on the tool box that'd be great. Someone elsewhere recommended installing G`MIC plugin for GIMP so I'm gonna give that a shot too.

Aw, poor Wilber. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP#Mas… I don't think he's that ugly (or a dog)

Great configs. My toolbox have terribly small icons though. How did you manage to make'em bigger and add padding?

You need to look into .gimp-2.8/themes/PsIcons/gtkrc file, it has the size of icons as well as their padding. the sizes aren't defined as pixels though, but as /type/ so menu vs button icon. Then the actual size is set by your Gnome Theme, where the icons sizes are adjustable for everything (all apps)

You're very welcome. But also thanks to the gimp developers for making the software so flexible. :-)

I love this but if I work with more than one picture, GIMP doesn't ask to save the changes before closing them, it just closes them.

Ah that's one of my options. You can always set it back to the gimp way in the preferences menu.
